The UH-15TA features a polystyrene foam core with aluminum skin. The thick foam core hull provides fail-safe positive flotation and improved rough water handling. This hovercraft was designed for operating on large bodies of water such as Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.

Specifications:

Capacity:                                 2-3 Passengers

Payload:                                  600 Lbs

Speed:                                     50 to 55 mph

Hover Height:                         12 inches

Length:                                    15 ft 1 in

Width:                                      7 ft 1 in

Empty Weight:                       700 Lbs

Flotation:                                 2,500 Lbs

Climb Gradient:                      20 to 35%

Lift Engine:                              12 to 17 hp vertical shaft (under 75 lbs)

Thrust Engine:                        2-stroke 55-80 hp or 4-stroke 35 - 85 hp

Construction Method:           Foam and Aluminum Composite

Construction Time:                 250-350 hours

How it works:

A single 12-17 hp+ vertical shaft lawnmower engine turns a four blade 30-inch ducted fan that provides lift . The 35-85 hp horizontal shaft thrust engine turns a 54 inch two blade propeller for thrust.

How it’s made:

It's built from a aluminum ribs connected by stringers and covered in aluminum sheet.  Positive floatation is from foam blocks bonded in between the ribs.

Handlebar Steering:

Handlebar steering controls three vertical rudders for precise control. Thrust throttle is on the joystick and lift throttle is typically on the dashboard.

Flying a hovercraft:

Driving the craft is easy as it has only three controls; steering, lift throttle and thrust throttle. Slowly advancing the lift throttle will bring the craft up on cushion. Adding thrust power accelerates the craft. Speed is easily controlled by increasing or decreasing thrust engine rpm.

Where to fly:

The 15TA will operate on land, water, snow, ice, mud, parking lots, football fields, ponds and rivers. Speed varies over each terrain. Basically, it will run on any relatively smooth surface. Smoother terrain will allow the craft to achieve higher speeds while rough terrain will slow the craft.
