How it works:

A single vertical shaft lawnmower engine powers both the thrust prop and the lift fan and enables the craft to achieve a top speed of 57 mph quietly and efficiently. The 26" lift fan and 54" thrust prop are driven through a reduction drive system to slow down tips speeds resulting in extremely quiet operation. The vertical shaft engine should be 18-29 horsepower. Engine manufactures: Kohler (preferred), Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Kawasaki and Predator will power the hovercraft.

How it’s made:

It's built from a foam and plywood sandwich construction. The combination of these materials makes a low cost, high strength composite structure that is completely un-sinkable.

Flying a hovercraft:

In addition to being extremely quiet, the single engine design makes operating the craft easy. Just squeeze the throttle and off you go. The drive system is engineered to supply the correct amount of power to both the lift fan and thrust propeller at every throttle setting.

Where to fly:

The 14p will operate on land, water, snow, ice, mud, parking lots, football fields, ponds and rivers. Speed varies over each terrain. Basically, it will run on any relatively smooth surface. Smoother terrain will allow the craft to achieve higher speeds while rough terrain will slow the craft.

Organized competition:

If you’re interested in racing, the 14P meets the World Hovercraft Federation and Hoverclub of America Formula 25 racing requirements. The 14P also qualifies for Formula E (Endurance) racing. See Hoverclub of America for more information.
